Canyons and Mountain Trails Foundation are proud to announce a guest donation program, whereby guests can help maintain and enhance the Park City’s epic trail system. Beginning immediately, guests will have the opportunity to donate $1 per online transaction transaction (including lodging reservations, ski school reservations, Epic Pass sales and coming in 2014, golf tee times) at www.canyonsresort.com. Programs like this generate tens of thousands of dollars annually at Vail Resorts properties in Colorado and Lake Tahoe.
We celebrated the program’s launch by donating $1,000 – and purchasing 1,000 cups of coffee – at six local coffee shops last week. While a few guests had heard of the program, many were surprised to be greeted by senior staff from both Canyons and Mountain Trails offering them a free mug and a free cup of coffee. At Park City Bread & Bagel, Wasatch Bagels, Java Cow, Park City Roasters and Starbuck’s, the response was uniformly positive.
Canyons’ General Manager Mike Goar handed out mugs at Kimball Arts Center along with Mountain Trails’ director Charlie Sturgis and Park City mayor Dana Williams. Goar said “Mountain Trails Foundation exemplifies the spirit of hands-on, on-the-ground environmental restoration and maintenance work that resonates with our guides (employees) and guests.”
All of us who work or play at Canyons use the impressive trail system that Mountain Trails Foundation looks after so meticulously. We hope our guests don’t mind sharing the burden to ensure that Park City remains the only “Gold Level” mountain biking destination in the world… and an unparalleled place to snowshoe, skate-ski, hike, run and walk the dogs.
