National Ski Areas Association (NSAA) celebrates Safety at US Ski Resorts this week, and Canyons has plenty of events and activities on schedule to encourage safety while skiing and riding at Canyons.
The focus this year is on Terrain Park Safety. Canyons Terrain Park is hosting four Digger Knowledge Clinics in Painted Horse Progression Park on Sunday, January 20th at 11:00am and 2:00pm and on Monday, January 21st at 11:00am and 3:00pm. In these clinics, park users can learn about riding terrain parks from the experts, the Diggers. Topics covered will be Smart Style, ATML, feature materials, park flow, feature styles and staging zones. These clinics are aimed at the new park user and are a great way to get comfortable in Canyons Terrain Parks. If you can’t attend the clinics and still want to learn about the park, keep your eyes out for the Smart Style Safety Video playing in restaurants, lodging and retail outlets all week.
Canyons will continue to enforce Slow Zones around the resort with extra staffing during peak periods. Maintaining a slow speed and “Going with the flow” is an important part of Canyons Responsibility Code. Guests seen displaying a good example could be rewarded with a positive card from staff, good for hot chocolate or other various prizes. Children can participate in the NSAA Safety Poster Contest with Murdock at Red Pine Lodge, and Canyons Ski & Snowboard School will have a special focus on Safety all week with an increased focus on chairlift safety.
As part of Canyons 2012-13 winter season safety initiative, Canyons launched a Know the Code Campaign, where guests can answer a few short questions about Safety for chances to win some great prizes. Check out the quiz online here: http://canyonsresort.com/knowthecode.html
Have a great week, and Be Safe Out There!
