Located in the Sundial Building, Murdock’s Cafe is the newest eatery to hit the Canyons Resort. The laid back restaurant is a welcome addition to the resort’s village, offering up a quick, crowd pleasing menu in a relaxed environment. Long overdue in my opinion, Murdock’s is the answer to a quick meal on the mountain while still offering a restaurant feel. The menu isn’t lengthy nor is it complex. You’ll find simple eats made to order. With the option to take out or sit down at one of the many tables, you order at the counter and the food comes out quickly and is delivered to your table.
Open daily at 7:30 am, Murdock’s is part cafe, part coffee shop. The breakfast menu is small, offering just a few breakfast burritos and grinders. For a lighter option, choose either a bagel and cream cheese or the fresh fruit parfait. Lunch starts at noon and Murdock’s offers a daily soup, pasta special, a few green salads, and the real highlight: a lengthy choice of grinders. With names like Sunpeak, Super Fury and The Murdock, all sandwich names play homage to favorite spots on the mountain. From tuna salad and homemade meatballs to multiple vegetarian options, I guarantee there is a grinder for everyone. A real standout is the bread they use- I can be a snob when it comes to sandwiches and the rolls MAKE the grinders. All sandwiches come with your choice of a side, ranging from potato chips to a broccoli salad, cucumber salad, or coleslaw (my personal favorite).
Not hungry but looking for a place to grab a cup of joe? Murdock’s fits the bill nicely. I’ve been missing the cart in the village that used to be the Chocolate Bar, selling gourmet hot cocoa concoctions, so I was pleasantly surprised to learn that it isn’t closed, it just moved indoors. Murdock’s is now the place to get speciality coffee and hot chocolate drinks. With the north side of the restaurant being mostly windows, it offers a warm, cozy light on a bright day. With a great view of the resort village, I’d happily cozy up by the window drinking my salted caramel hot chocolate after a day on the slopes.
