Canyons Resort has had a lot to celebrate over the past few weeks. Not only were we named as one of the Top Ten Ski Resorts in North America, we also just received around 16” of fresh snow last week, and we were recognized as one of the Best Places to Work in Utah for the second year in a row!
The Utah Work/Life Awards™ honoring Utah’s Best Places to Work™, recognize companies that are creating exceptional workplaces and businesses by effectively addressing employee work/life needs and striving to create and sustain a culture of equity, growth and opportunity. The process to apply entails submitting a multi-part company questionnaire, and then surveying the Guides. The four key areas that are questioned are: flexibility/benefits, whole life, workplace excellence and business/personal success.
The awards were presented at a special luncheon, held at the Utah State Capitol Rotunda on Thursday, October 25th. Lt. Governor Bell spoke to a group of about 100 people that included representatives from other companies that were also recognized for their best practices. While congratulating Canyons Resort, the Lt. Governor expressed excitement and anticipation that the day’s new snow would be a sign of the winter to come, and he wished us a great season.
Greg Merrick, Vice President of Human Resources at Canyons, is thrilled. “It’s an honor for Canyons Resort to be recognized by the State as one of the best places to work for a second year,” Merrick effused. “I truly believe that the work environment is created by the people in that environment and cannot be dictated by a company mandate. This award really recognizes and belongs to our friendly, fully engaged Guides who make Canyons a great place to work every day.”
I couldn’t agree more. The people that make up our team are a passionate and joyous bunch. This happiness is contagious, and we’re looking forward to sharing it this winter season. LET IT SNOW!
